Something Personal

Something Personal from Jacob

New Beginnings

A few weeks ago, my oldest son, Judah, started kindergarten. It’s one of those family milestones you know is coming, but somehow still have a hard time accepting when it arrives. After praying over him, giving him a big hug, and sending him off to his classroom, I looked over at Kelsey, and we both started to cry. We couldn’t believe our baby was old enough to be in school full time.

And just like that, our other son, Levi, started Pre-K that same week. Suddenly, our little guys aren’t quite so little anymore.

People always tell you to enjoy these moments while your kids are young because they go by so quickly. We really do try to soak them in every day. But even then, it’s hard to grasp just how fast time moves. Before we know it, our kids will be heading off to college, just like Marty’s daughter, Cali did last month.

Life comes at you fast. And these moments have a way of reminding us just how important it is to slow down and appreciate where we are right now.

Those goals are important, but a comprehensive financial plan should also account for the possibility that circumstances may change later in life.
